Gin & Damson Liqueur
Every Autumn, the vibrant blue damsons bring a splash of colour to the trees for a short time. When juicy and ripe, the damsons are carefully hand-picked, then steeped in gin. The result is a delicious rich and luxurious alternative to sloe gin, with interesting flavours of dark and rich damson throughout, with more than a hint of almond to finish.
Delicious with a dash of lemonade or in a hot warming winter totty during the winter. Try adding it to champagne for a Kir Royale style drink.
Cocktail Suggestion
Mulled Damson Gin and Orange
Serves 2.
Ingredients:
- 100ml Melton Mowbray Damson Gin
- 300ml orange juice
- 2 star anise
-Pinch of cloves
- Slice of lemon
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 vanilla pod Cut down the centre of the vanilla pod, exposing the seeds.
Method
Add all the ingredients, except the Damson Gin to a saucepan.
Stir and simmer for between 5-10 minutes. Do not let it boil.
Strain into two mugs and add 50ml of Damson Gin to each mug.
Garnish with a slice of orange and a cinnamon stick. Serve steaming hot!
